Frequently Asked Questions
What is CBD?
CBD is the abbreviation of cannabidiol and is one of at least 113 chemical compounds in the cannabis plant called cannabinoids. The cannabis plant is even able to produce over 400 different chemical components. Like other herbs, cannabis is a superfood whose constituents (cannabinoids) can have a positive effect on the body. Cannabidiol (CBD) belongs to these cannabinoids.
Are SPARROW Pet CBD hemp products legal and safe for animals?
With so many studies showing the benefits of CBD, the outcome is that CBD seems safe for animals even when administered in high doses and over long periods of time. It can reduce the activity of liver enzymes, which are used to metabolize many drugs. So if you need to give your pet medication, you should check with your vet before using a CBD product.
Since the hemp extract with CBD in SPARROW Pet CBD products consists of hemp and hemp seeds, the products also contain only very small traces of THC, less than 0.2%. Therefore the hemp products with CBD for animals are not subject to the narcotics law and are thus completely legal.
Is Hemp Oil the same for animals & humans?
The ingredients can and usually are the same for both. The main difference is the extraction. For animals it must be noted that the extraction is done in the CO2 process, as this process is not based on alcohol, butane, or propane.
Will my pet get high on the CBD?
No. Your pet won’t get high on the CBD. Unlike the known THC, CBD is not intoxicating. Your pet will simply feel relaxed.
Will CBD make the animal addicted?

Does the CBD oil work fast?
The first positive properties may already occur after 20 to 30 minutes of giving the drops.
How to apply and dose the CBD oil?
In the 1st week, 1 drop per day. In the 2nd week and consecutive weeks, increase to 2 drops per day / per 5kg body weight. The first half of the crowd in the morning, the other half in the evening. For a 5kg animal this means 1 drop in the morning and 1 drop in the evening.
If the CBD oil is used for skin problems or allergies, the affected areas must be painted in the morning and evening with the CBD oil.
The most common side effects are drowsiness, similar to administering Benadryl to the animal.
In very rare cases, the side effects can cause itching or mild vomiting. If the animal reacts with these symptoms, it is necessary to stop the administration of CBD oil for a few days. Then start again with a smaller dose and if necessary deny the dosage with the veterinarian.
Can you overdose?
According to Dr. Silver can be given to the animal too much hemp oil with CBD. An overdose is not life threatening. An overdose could lead to side effects such as disorientation, hyperactivity, vomiting or excessive sedation. In rare cases it can also lead to diarrhea. If you notice any of these side effects in your animal, stop typing for 4 to 5 days and then start again with a lower dose and if necessary discuss with the vet.
Is hemp oil compatible with CBD with medicines?
So far no complications are known. What is known is that when larger amounts of CBD are administered or over a longer period of time, drug metabolization may occur. This means that the effect of the medication can subside. That’s why we always recommend contacting the vet first if you need to give your pet medication.
Is the hemp oil with CBD from SPARROW Pet CBD only for dogs & cats or can I also give it to other pets?
All mammals can benefit from SPARROW Pet CBD Hemp Oil with CBD. This is not a drug or pharmaceutical product. This is a completely natural, organic product without chemical substances or artificial preservatives. However, Swiss law prohibits any sale of hemp products to farm animals. So if you want to administer hemp products to horses, it is only legal if you have registered your horse as a pet.
What is the difference between the SPARROW Pet CBD hemp oil and the high-quality hemp oils that are much cheaper to buy in organic supermarkets? These are also gently produced and contain all ingredients of the hemp plant.
The hemp oil, which can be bought in organic supermarkets, is properly a hempseed oil and is obtained from the hemp seeds and not from the entire hemp plant. The hemp seeds contain the omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids. Cannabis seeds do not contain cannabinoids like CBD, which have the positive health properties. CBD and all other cannabinoids as well as terpenes are extracted from the whole hemp plant. These cannabinoids have been shown in scientific studies to:
- increase the vitality
- support the musculoskeletal system
- bring relaxation
- help in stress situations
- strengthen the immune system
- stimulate the appetite
- contribute to healthy skin
- help to a healthy and shiny coat
- support the gastrointestinal tract
- support the regeneration of the muscles
In addition, CBD can also contribute to the support of general well-being.
